Retro Romance

Meet the Richardsons!

Meagan Patrlja and Tyler Richardson were married on June 16, 2011, during a beach wedding ceremony in Hawaii. The small and intimate event was attended by immediate family members.

The newlyweds returned home to celebrate their reception with friends and family in the bride’s hometown of Mansfield, Oh. Downtown Mansfield is like stepping back in time and was a great setting to capture some real vintage looking photos. The neon signs from the 1930′s are still adorned above the The Coney Island Diner and City News provided an outstanding backdrop for these classic looking photos. The Richland Carousel Park added to the retro theme of the photos and was quite challenging and fun at the same time. These two images were my favorite of the bunch, both giving  feelings of nostalgia from another time. The couple was very enthusiastic and fun to shoot, and not to mention, very photogenic. It’s so easy to shoot a couple that is truly in love. Wish you two the very best!

The Toledo Museum of Art

Photos|Ben French

While Toledo is known for their Mud Hens, Tony Packo’s Hot Dogs, Jamie Farrs and Miller Light Vortex beer bottles, they also have two gems that deserve to be mentioned. One being the Toledo Zoo and the other being The Toledo Museum of Art.  Located at 2445 Monroe Street since 1901 and funded by the glass moguls of Toledo. Their collection includes works by van Gogh, Matisse, Rembrandt, Picasso, Degas, Monet, and countless others. Here are a few images that I took a while back for the Issue Media Group publication Insider Ohio.  Most museums need to give you permission to take photos anywhere on the property due to copyright, conservation, security, revenue streams and general aesthetics of the museum experience for other visitors. I was only given permission to shoot works where the artist has been deceased for over 100 years.
